Exterior Designs Steps Up to Help Erland Construction Rebuild Home for Local Family

Exterior Designs is proud to announce they will be partnering with Erland Construction to provide exterior finishes for the rebuilding of the Schultz Family Home in Stow, Massachusetts.

From Erland: Together with the Schultz family – Erica, Mike, their daughter Lexi and son Eli – Erland Construction celebrated the first major step toward the completion of the home being built for the family at a time of need. As many have seen through various media outlets, the Schultz’s recently lost their 5-year-old son Ari.

Ari was born with a serious heart condition requiring a transplant and captured the attention of over 100 million people when he learned he’d get a new heart. As a shock to many, Ari passed away peacefully in July while listening to his favorite team, the Red Sox.

Erland Construction “Tops Off” Home for the Schultz Family Midway through Ari’s nearly 200 days at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, his family realized their house was unsafe, having found black mold behind their walls to the point the home had to be demolished. Dan James, Vice President, General Superintendent at Erland, lives in the same neighborhood as the Schultz’s and assembled a team of volunteers and donors to help build a new home for the Schultz family.

About one month after their old home was demolished in mid-July, the framework of the new house began to take shape. For the topping off ceremony, Erland mounted an evergreen tree and an American flag to mark the completion of the framework, while a barbecue was hosted to thank all of the volunteers.

“In addition to providing some help and peace-of-mind to the Schultz family, one of the things I enjoy most about this project is being surrounded by the generous, positive spirit of all the volunteers and donors.

“Whether it is my associates at Erland, who have helped coordinate the effort, the companies who have donated goods and services, the workers themselves who come after working regular hours at other jobsites, or the friends and neighbors who bring food or help clean-up, I am proud to be part of an industry and community that exemplifies just how good people can be.
